The 1.0 release has 12 romanceable marriage candidates — six bachelors and six bachelorettes, including two secret candidates. Candidates are not gender locked, so any Fields of Mistria romance path is open to every player.

Hearts, Dating & Heart Events
Raise a villager's hearts with daily talks and gifts to trigger heart events. The heart cap is 10, and the 8-heart event is where you choose to start dating — the key decision in any Fields of Mistria romance run.

Proposal, Engagement Ring & Wedding
Reaching 10 hearts is not an instant marriage. You must be dating the villager, receive the Engagement Ring recipe from Elsie, craft the ring at a Forge, then trigger the proposal event. You can view every 10-heart event and collect NPC Special Items before choosing who to marry.
Children & the Mystical Feather
Children are optional in this Fields of Mistria romance guide. A few weeks after marriage, a Mystical Feather cutscene lets you choose whether to start a family. You can also customize your wedding flower color, cake flavor, and reception meal beforehand.
You can date several villagers at once, but marry only one. When you get engaged, other dating partners default to Best Friends. Relationship settings can hide breakup letters or adjust that change — set them before you confirm the engagement.

Secret Romance Candidates: Caldarus & Seridia
Caldarus
The dragon romance is heavily story and late-game gated, tied to the Mines, Deep Woods, and the Dragonsworn / Final Seal questlines — not a simple gift-to-8-hearts route.
Seridia
The Secret Bachelorette unlocks after you finish the Mines Questline, then gains a new schedule, dialogue, a Shooting Star scene, and an 8-heart event.
Both marriageable
Both are full members of the 1.0 twelve-candidate roster, so a complete Fields of Mistria romance guide must cover them alongside the ten open candidates.

At a candidate's 8-heart event, choose Dating instead of Best Friends. Dating is the relationship path that leads toward the proposal and marriage.
Can you date multiple people in Fields of Mistria?
Yes. The official Dating update allows dating multiple villagers at the same time, but you can ultimately marry only one.
How many hearts do you need to marry?
The heart cap is 10. To propose, the villager must be someone you are dating at 10 hearts, and you need a crafted Engagement Ring.
How do you get the Engagement Ring?
